Why We Started
180 Prison Support Ministry is on a mission to bring love and value to each family served. Children of incarcerated parents are a subset of American children at risk and often called the forgotten or overlooked in the criminal justice system, in social service circles, in public health, and schools -- even as their numbers spike upward along with the numbers of adults who are being imprisoned. While evidence increases, there is reason to suspect that this population is exposed to violence at higher rates than the general population. It is also likely that children with incarcerated parents face heightened risks for negative outcomes associated with exposure to violence due to additional trauma experienced during the process of parental incarceration and the lack of a stable home environment. Therefore, we are so ready to stand in the gap for these amazing children. Unfortunately, due to the volatility of this population exposure to “domestic violence” among children of inmates has been on the rise. Although many children are resilient, exposure to violence has been linked to several problematic behaviors including attachment difficulties, regressive behaviors, anxiety, depression, aggression, and conduct disorders. Research suggests that children exposed to violence are also more likely to experience several negative outcomes, including further victimization, delinquency, and involvement with the juvenile justice system. We believe that we can FILL THE GAP for children of incarcerated parents, and give them hope through spreading the message of Christ’s love for them.

TESTIMONIALS
Camp 180 changed my life in the way I look at children with incarcerated parents. I never thought about it until I came to camp and seeing how these youth's still need Jesus. They need love all children do. This gave me that opportunity to love on them and talk to them about Jesus. I have been able to show them the love God has shown me and how God loves them unconditionally. I will be forever changed by the hearts from the youth's at AZ Camp 180.
